Scaffolding

If you intend to put scaffolding up around a building on the public highway, then you need a scaffolding license. The Stellar Scaffolding team will supply a Risk Assessment, Method Statement and Public Liability Insurance. Depending on the structure and the complexity of the project, site meetings and consultations with representatives from the local authority may also be required to cover the local impact of the structure on highways, the public and the local surroundings.

Hoardings

Should you intend to put a hoarding structure around a building on the public highway, then you will require a hoarding license. Hoarding License applications will be made by Stellar Scaffolding with the relevant Local Authority or London borough covering the location of the hoarding structure.

As with the Scaffolding License process, a Risk Assessment, Method Statement and Public Liability Insurance will be supplied to support the application.

How to apply for a Scaffolding and Hoarding License

To apply for scaffolding and hoarding license, all applications must be made via the local council covering the structure.

All applications to place scaffolding or hoarding on the highway should be made at least 15 working days prior to the start date required to allow time for processing of the license and application and site visit if required.

By UK law, we need to ensure that all scaffolding and hoarding structures are securely and safely erected. Fines and penalties for non-compliance with a Scaffolding License or Hoarding License can be imposed. Most licenses are valid for a fixed period, normally for a calendar month. Extensions, if required, should be done prior to the current license expiring.
